The most valuable tech company on the planet yet for some reason hard lock software. Hardware makes a lot of sense, but the beauty and the entire point of the iPad was that the screen becomes whatever controller you need at the time, why Logic Remote can’t detect which version of Logic the machines running and interface that way I’ll never know we all know it’s to force upgrades, sorry Apple! But I’m one of those professionals that doesn’t fix what isn’t broken, I upgraded my iPad because there was a genuine reason and I have benefited, it’s just a shame that they have arbitrarily locked out, I’m only interested in the key commands on display, just having my iPad as the mixer, cut, copy, paste, zoom, zoom out etc was extremely useful. I’m on a Apple MacBook Pro mid 2014 model and it just flat out works, so obviously I don’t want to update for fear of other hardware and software becoming incompatible, we already saw Apple kill machines for those that did update by blindsiding companies like Ableton and Avid who were forced to issue statements of not to update. It’s baffling that Apple of hard locked Logic Remote to only work with Logic Pro X v10.5 onwards. I updated to an iPad Pro for the USB-C support and because it can bus power certain audio interfaces by itself for work. But I am sure that as they also force us into iOS10xxx on our Macs, more software will become flawed or useless. ![]() ![]() So what do I do now? Well Apple are not interested in supporting their reputation as THE machines for media and audio processing by forcing us all into USB interfaces, so I may as well go back to Windows which seems to be getting better and better. Just as they removed the audio input from the latest iMacs which is also the optical input for interfaces as well and which suits my equipment perfectly. Turn of Logic Prox X, open the app and you get the window again to connect. Close the app and it comes back to that window again. It connects andelaves it on teh communication window which can't be closed after connection. Opendup after all the updates on the app and what do I get? Nothing. I have the latedst update for Logic Pro X and I dowloaded the Logic remote on my iPad 3. *Smart Controls, Sound Library navigation, Smart Help, full mixer and access to plug-in controls are available only on iPad Plug-in view provides access to Logic or Audio Unit plug-in parameters.Use Multi-Touch gestures to shape the tone of your tracks with Visual EQ.Enable and change automation modes for each fader.Use the level meter strip to monitor levels and identify clipping.Swipe to scroll or jump in banks to navigate through Mixer faders.Use Multi-Touch gestures to adjust Mixer volume, pan, solo and mute controls.Remotely trigger Logic key commands with customisable buttons.Enable Smart Help and hover over interface elements on your Mac to display documentation on your iPad.Browse the Sound Library and remotely change Patches.Control recordings on your Mac from another room.Select and jump to any Logic project marker.Swipe the LCD or bar ruler to navigate to any location.Operate basic transport controls like start, stop, record and cycle.Add the Arpeggiator plug-in to any instrument.Make simple or dramatic changes to your sounds with Smart Controls.Tap and strum entire chords using Chord Strip view.Use the scale mode to limit notes to fit the key of your song.Perform Remix FX over individual tracks or the entire song. ![]()
